The chicken legs were rotten, but that’s not the point. The point is that the way the staff handled the situation completely shocked me, and I feel it’s necessary to share this with more people. If you shop for meat and fresh produce at this Super King, please be extra vigilant and check everything carefully.

In fact, I decided to take the photo when I was about to throw away the trash. So, I apologize if the photo makes you uncomfortable.

Here’s what happened: On December 26, 2024, at around 1 p.m., I purchased nearly $50 worth of fruits, vegetables, and meat at this store, including a pack of chicken legs weighing about 5 pounds.

When I got home, I started cleaning and preparing them, and as soon as I opened the package, a horrible stench hit me. I confirmed that the smell was coming from the chicken legs, and one of them was broken, with the break clearly showing signs of spoilage, including discoloration and a grayish-green tint. At that point, I wasn’t too upset—though such a large chain supermarket shouldn’t allow this to happen, I preferred to believe it was just an accident.

Around 3 p.m., I went back to the customer service desk to return the product. After I explained the situation, a staff member apologized and took the chicken legs away. About ten minutes later, she returned with a freshly sealed package of chicken legs, took my receipt (though my card transaction was still on record), and apologized again. I left with my family.

When I got home and opened the new package to cook, the stench hit me once again. I couldn’t believe my nose, and when I looked closely, I found that the same half-broken, grayish-green chicken leg was still there. It turns out that their solution was to repackage the rotten chicken legs and give them back to me.

I’m baffled. There were a hundred ways to resolve this, but they chose the worst one. There was a complete lack of basic respect for the customer. May God bless, and I hope no one else has to go through what I experienced today.

The produce selection is exceptional, with a diverse array of fruits and vegetables. Meat and cheese prices are competitive, offering great value. The alcoholic beverage range is impressive, catering to various tastes. Overall, it’s a commendable shopping experience. Wish we had one in Culver City.

My friend recommended this place to me for great prices and good products!

It met my expectations when I arrived. Plenty of parking (beware that there is a one-way entrance and one-way exit, I missed the one way and had to u-turn).

It’s a big market and lots of selection! I especially like how affordable the nuts and rice crackers and almonds are! Their chili and lemon peanuts are so delish!!

I picked a few peaches so I am hoping they are sweet. 99cent a pound.

The employees near the assorted nuts were friendly and helpful.

I would definitely come back!

I've been to several Super King Markets, and I have to say the Altadena location is my favorite! It's noticeably cleaner and more organized than both the Los Feliz and Colorado branches. The produce section is the real standout - everything looks so fresh and vibrant. They have a great selection of international foods too, and the prices are always competitive. If you're looking for a Super King in the area, definitely make the trip to Altadena, it's worth it!

Customer service in this store is trash specially in the deli department staff at Deli department have no customer service they are rude and have no sense of what customer service is about. Just because your produce is fresh otherwise I would have stopped coming here a long time ago. The best customer service I’ve had has been with your produce department the workers there always willing to go the extra mile to help choose fresh fruit and vegetable's.

Best fresh-produce selection in Pasadena. Excellent spread of grains and legumes--this is the place to find your red lentils and buckwheat. Good array of specialty ethnic favorites, but has narrowed the number and types of items available in the last few years. Great place for me to shop, as a vegan!
